Stainless steel pipes can be bent, which is based on an important physical property of metal, "ductility.". Subdivision can be two properties, "ductility" (the property that can be stretched and lengthened in the length direction) and "expansibility" (the property that can be thinned by forging, etc.). After a certain limit of "stretch" processing without fracture, the metal has good ductility within a certain limit in a certain state. Generally speaking, the metal can be deformed under certain conditions without cracking.
Bending of stainless steel pipe requires high toughness and ductility of stainless steel pipe. Generally speaking, as long as the stainless steel pipe after solution heat treatment can be bent, whether it can be bent has nothing to do with the specification of stainless steel pipe, has something to do with the raw material of stainless steel pipe, and also has something to do with the bending degree of stainless steel pipe. Generally, the mechanical properties of austenitic steel are better, and can be further bent. For example, 304 stainless steel pipe, 316 stainless steel pipe, 409 stainless steel pipe, 500 stainless steel pipe series - heat resistant chromium alloy steel, 630 (17-4PH) precipitation hardening stainless steel, these grades of stainless steel pipes are bendable. Stainless steel pipe can be bent by heat and proper temperature.
At present, there are two ways to bend stainless steel pipe in the market:
1.Cold bending method: it is generally formed by rolling several times with a bending machine.
Disadvantages: the diameter of steel pipe is limited, generally only between 1cm-5cm; if the curvature is too small, the diameter of steel pipe is prone to deformation.
2.Hot bending method: stainless steel pipe filled with sand, filled to the full, high temperature heat treatment stretch bending, this method is the best;
Disadvantages: the cost is too high, the outlay is large, not suitable for mass production.
